Easton Garlic Fest will be return Oct. 1 and 2 to sites to the Centre Square area.

From palate-punching to a creamy caress, it’s that rare food that spans the flavor spectrum.

And every year the city of Easton celebrates it in all its stinky glory.

Garlic Fest — two days of every imaginable version of garlic, plus culinary competitions, tastings and more — returns to downtown Easton. It’s the first of two major fall food events in the city.

Pack up those mints and get ready for all the details.

Your best bet is to park in one of the city garages. They’ll fill up fast, plan to arrive early.

Note: There’s a flat fee of $10 and it has to be cash.

You can also park at metered spots around the city but do not count on availability.

Garlic Fest is known for its culinary events and this year is no exception.

This year, there’s a new competition, the Chef’s Choice Cook-off, 3 p.m. Oct. 2. Watch Executive Chef Abe Lopez of Stoke Coal Fire Pizza & Bar take on Marbin Castroramos, head chef of Third & Ferry Fish Market, in a garlic head-to-head battle. Watch and see who can wow the judges.

Also new: For the first time in its 270-year history, the Easton Farmers’ Market will be held in the city’s College Hill neighborhood, finding a single-day home on the Lafayette College Quad on Oct. 1 to accommodate downtown traffic patterns for the first day of Easton Garlic Fest.

Nearly three dozen EFM vendors are expected for the weekly market, which will maintain its usual hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free parking will be available in Lafayette’s McCartney Street and Clinton Terrace lots and Markle Parking Deck in addition to street parking in College Hill.

The Easton Farmers’ Market will return to Larry Holmes Drive and Scott Park on Oct. 8.

Garlic Fest has food. A lot of food. And drinks too.

It’s impossible to include everything, so here are a few highlights.
